Peter Lynn & Partners Advise Rugby Legend.
Peter Lynn and Partners Solicitors have recently advised rugby legend Jonathan Davies on a new ambassadorial role he is taking with a leading renewable energy firm.
Mr Davies, who has similar roles with a number of South Wales companies, took the opportunity to draft a new agreement in order to clarify expectations between both parties.
“Since retiring from professional sport, I have been fortunate to work with many leading businesses across a range of sectors,” said Jonathan, “however, after speaking with Peter Lynn, he outlined the potential legal pitfalls of doing business on a handshake, so I decided to put in place a legal document that protects both the client and me.”
With extensive experience working with professionals in the sports and entertainment sector, Peter Lynn was able to understand the requirements of the role and put in place clear terms to clarify a number of core activities such as days to work per month, media activities, payment terms and more.
“The agreement gives both parties peace of mind and clarity when they need it most,” said Mr Lynn, “so if there is a query over an expectation or activity, the document outlines what has been agreed enabling both Jonathan and the client to move on positively from a potential disagreement.”
With more and more professional sports people taking on similar representative or ambassador roles when retiring, the advice from Mr Lynn is simple, draft a legal contract and prevent legal problems.
