Peter Lynn and Partners Solicitors have reaffirmed their long-standing commitment to education and creativity by making a generous donation to the Film Skills programme, supporting its rollout at Danygraig Primary School.

The £500 contribution has been used to purchase a new camera for the school, ensuring pupils – particularly those in the junior STF class, affectionately known as the Sun Beams – can take part in the innovative initiative.

Film Skills is a unique cross-curricular project that uses filmmaking as a tool to develop confidence, teamwork, and communication skills among learners.

“Supporting young people and helping schools deliver creative learning experiences is something we are proud to be involved in,” said Peter Lynn, Senior Partner at Peter Lynn and Partners. “Film Skills is a brilliant initiative that has had a real impact on pupils across South Wales, and we’re delighted to help Danygraig continue the tradition.”

A Decade of Creativity and Growth

2025 marks a major milestone for the project—ten years since Film Skills was first introduced at Ysgol Pen-y-Bryn in Swansea.

Since then, it has grown significantly, with schools across the region taking part. Recent participants include Swiss Valley Primary in Llanelli, St Joseph’s RC Primary in Clydach, St Mary’s in Llanelli, and of course, Danygraig Primary.

“From a single idea in 2015 to a growing movement of young filmmakers across South Wales, Film Skills has become a real source of pride,” said James Williams, teacher at Ysgol Pen-y-Bryn and lead on the initiative. “Support from organisations like Peter Lynn and Partners has helped us grow the programme and bring it to more schools than ever before.”

Lights, Camera, Celebration

Danygraig’s project couldn’t have come at a better time—the school is preparing to celebrate its 150th anniversary, and the students are using their new filmmaking equipment to create something truly special.

The story centres around a mischievous schoolboy, Danny, who returns from the past to stir up trouble and remind everyone of the importance of fun. Voiced by local legend Mal Pope, the film even includes a surprise cameo from the entertainer himself.

The excitement around the project is palpable. For the pupils involved, many of whom face additional learning challenges, the experience offers a fresh way to engage with learning and express themselves creatively.

Supporting the Community Beyond Legal Services

Peter Lynn and Partners Solicitors are no strangers to community involvement. With offices across the region, the firm has built a reputation not just for providing expert legal advice in areas like commercial law, employment law, family law, and conveyancing, but for giving back to the communities it serves.

Their continued support of Film Skills is just one example of how the firm goes beyond the brief. “We believe in the power of education and creativity to transform lives,” added Peter Lynn. “Whether we’re helping a business grow, supporting a family through a legal challenge, or helping pupils tell their stories through film, our goal is the same – to make a positive difference.”

A Lasting Legacy

As Film Skills prepares to mark its tenth anniversary in 2025, the programme shows no sign of slowing down.
