Law Firm Supports Welsh Rugby Vets with Four-Figure Deal.
Leading South Wales law firm Peter Lynn and Partners are proud to announce a four-figure sponsorship deal with the Welsh Charity Vets Rugby.
The “vets”, who aim to raise money for Welsh charities by integrating former elite players with social players to enter various tournaments and exhibition games, was founded in 2017 by current Welsh referee and “vets” manager, Martyn Lewis.
“What started as a conversation with some ex-professional players to win Amsterdam Vets 10s and raise money for charity has blossomed into a recognised invitational side that regularly attracts ex-British Lions, Internationals and the cream of the club scene,” said Martyn, “and we’ve had some great success since forming.”
As winners of the 2017 Valencia Vets 10’s, 2018 Amsterdam 7s and back to back Jimmy Cracker 7’s winners in 2017 and 2018; the Welsh Charity Vets Rugby certainly have had success, but although the trophies are great, the focus is on raising money for local Welsh charities.
“Over the last 18 months, we’ve raised over £40k for local charities and are looking to continue raising much-needed funds thanks to the tournaments we are entering and the events we are hosting,” continued Martyn.
Previous events have included a private lunch with Sir Gareth Edwards at the Ivy in London to raise funds for Alzheimer Cymru and a Q&A with Jamie Roberts and David Campese at the Park House in Cardiff to raise funds for
MSA Trust Wales and Kidney Wales.
While the events and games are vital, it is also important that the team secure funds in the form of corporate sponsorship to further bolster their efforts, something Peter Lynn and Partners were only too happy to help with.
Peter Lynn, Senior Partner at the law firm said, “We have been involved with the Welsh Charity Vets Rugby for a number of years, having supported them in a variety of local tournaments such as the Jimmy Cracker 7’s in Mumbles, however we wanted to do more, and this new deal secures our support for the team over the entire season rather than just one-off events.”
The success and achievements of the team are now attracting more and more ex-players, with former internationals now contacting Martyn directly to offer to play for the team, host events and raise much-needed funds for charities across Wales.
