Law Firm Facilitates Acquisition of Ainon Chapel for Romanian Orthodox Church.
Peter Lynn and Partners Solicitors are delighted to announce their pivotal role in acquiring Ainon Chapel in Birchgrove, Swansea, on behalf of the Romanian Orthodox Church in Swansea.
This landmark five-figure purchase marks the church’s first property in South Wales, creating a permanent base for the growing Romanian Orthodox community in the region.
The transaction, led by commercial property solicitor Alex Kurtz-Shefford, required intricate legal guidance, including navigating the implications of overage deeds and land covenants specific to the purchase of a religious property.
The chapel was acquired through a newly established charity, a key step in securing the property and its future use as a centre for worship and community activities.
“This acquisition is a significant milestone for the Romanian Orthodox Church,” said Alex. “It was a privilege to support them in securing Ainon Chapel, ensuring that all legal and commercial considerations were addressed to protect their long-term interests. The process involved careful negotiation and a deep understanding of the legal framework surrounding properties of this nature, and we’re thrilled to have played a part in establishing this important base for their community.”
The Romanian Orthodox Church, in Swansea, represented by Fr. Vasile Flavian Branescu, together with Diana Stroia, Former Honorary Consul of Romania in Wales and Fr. Ioan Claudiu Moldovan, the Romanian Orthodox Church representative in South-West England and Wales, expressed enthusiasm for the acquisition and gratitude for the expert legal assistance provided:
“This is a momentous occasion for our community, as Ainon Chapel will serve as a spiritual and cultural hub for Romanian Orthodox believers across South Wales and we are grateful to Alex and the team at Peter Lynn and Partners for providing exceptional guidance throughout the process.”
